Wildlife Disease Information
WIRES provides comprehensive information on wildlife diseases to ensure public awareness and safety. The organisation educates the public on the signs, causes, and transmission methods of various wildlife diseases, such as Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome (LPS), Australian Bat Lyssavirus (ABLV), and Beak and Feather Disease (BFD).
WIRES emphasises the importance of safety precautions, including vaccination requirements for those working with wildlife, as well as the proper procedures for handling injured or sick animals. They also offer guidance on how to respond in case of exposure to certain diseases, stressing the need for prompt medical attention when necessary.
WIRES ensures that all rescuers are properly trained and vaccinated to safely handle affected wildlife.
